Algiers, the Kasbah & the Bay

START WITH THE PLACE

See more than the headline sights.

Bon Voyage treats a destination as a connected world: history, neighborhoods, food, nearby escapes and the port or route that brought you here all belong to the same journey.

The Kasbah is not a backdrop; it is a protected urban landscape with its own scale.

UNESCO describes the Kasbah of Algiers as a unique medina on a major Mediterranean coastal site, conserving a citadel, old mosques, Ottoman palaces and a traditional urban structure shaped by a living community. Its dense form adapts to a very hilly and uneven site, so access, route choice, footwear, mobility and current local guidance matter. Build the lower waterfront, Place des Martyrs and one coherent Kasbah route as a single geographic plan. The Grande Poste district, Notre-Dame d'Afrique, Jardin d'Essai, the Martyrs' Memorial and Tipasa each add distance, terrain or transport and deserve separate current opening, access, security and protected-return checks.
