ANCIENT KROTON MEETS THE SANCTUARY LANDSCAPE OF CAPO COLONNA

Crotone's strongest journey follows ideas, athletes and sacred objects from the Greek city to Hera Lacinia's headland.

The Italian Ministry of Culture describes the National Archaeological Museum's route through ancient Kroton, neighboring communities and the city's histories of athletes, physicians and philosophers. A major focus is the sanctuary of Hera Lacinia at Capo Colonna and its treasure, including a gold diadem and a bronze Nuragic boat. That collection turns the surviving column, lighthouse and Ionian headland into more than a scenic excursion. In the city, Piazza Pitagora, the historic center and Charles V Castle add later layers; farther coastal or inland choices need their own transport and timing plan. Check current official access information for the museum, archaeological areas and castle before relying on a visit.
