UNESCO identifies Su Nuraxi at Barumini as the finest and most complete example of the Nuragic defensive complexes unique to Sardinia. Developed in the late second millennium BCE, the site joins circular truncated-cone towers of dressed stone with corbel-vaulted chambers; it was later expanded and reinforced under Carthaginian pressure, and settlement remains surround the central complex. From Cagliari, Barumini is a separately planned inland journey whose feasibility depends on current access, transport and available time rather than an automatic short cruise-day stop.
