NPS says northbound traffic is affected September 28–29 and southbound traffic September 30–October 1. The Spur remains a travel corridor during the work; this is not a full road closure or a park-wide shutdown.
Travelers moving between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg should allow extra time, avoid tight same-day connections, and recheck current NPS and roadway information before departure because maintenance timing and traffic conditions can change.
WHAT THE NPS SCHEDULE SAYS
The National Park Service lists northbound single-lane closures for Monday and Tuesday, September 28 and 29, and southbound single-lane closures for Wednesday and Thursday, September 30 and October 1. The published work window is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
NPS describes the Gatlinburg Spur as a 4.2-mile road connecting Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. A lane closure on that corridor can create delay even when the road remains passable, so travelers should not treat a technically open route as a guaranteed normal drive time.
